Vera Mey

Vera Mey is an independent curator and PhD candidate at the SOAS, University of London. In New Zealand she was Assistant Director at ST PAUL St Gallery before moving overseas in 2014. From 2014 - 2016 she was a curator on the founding team of the NTU Centre for Contemporary Art Singapore. After this, she was part of the curatorial team for SUNSHOWER: Contemporary Art from Southeast Asia 1980s - Now(2017) at the Mori Art Museum and National Art Centre Tokyo, Japan, an extensive survey of contemporary art to focusing on Southeast Asia. Hey also co-curated Anywhere but here Bétonsalon - Centre d'art et de recherche in Paris and Singapore Art Archive Project @ SA SA BASSAC: Koh Nguang How and Shui Tit Sing in Phnom Penh (both 2016). She is one of the co-founding editors of the scholarly journal Southeast of Now: Directions in Contemporary and Modern Art in Asiaand for 2015 – 2016 and was a scholar on Ambitious Alignments: New Histories of Southeast Asian Art, a Getty Foundation research initiative.
