Allan Xia

Allan Xia is a visual storyteller whose work spans a broad spectrum of creative mediums and disciplines such as illustration, comics, videogames and emerging technologies such as Virtual (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR). Allan is also the founder and director of Chromacon, an international biennial indie arts festival based in New Zealand that connects creatives and art-lovers through inspiration, education, and interaction. 

In July 2013, Allan was awarded a prestigious placement in ART Venture 2013, a unique acceleration programme for creative entrepreneurs and producers working in the arts and creative industries in Auckland. His interactive digital game with Renee LiangGolden Threads, commissioned by Auckland Museum for the exhibition Being Chinese in Aotearoa, was recognised at the Play by Play Awards 2017 with an award for Representation and was then exhibited in China as part of two digital festivals. 

As part of AAAH2018, Allan Xia hosted a ‘How to survive and thrive in creative industries’ Master Class at Massey University.

Allan Xia was also on the panel Making Things Happen in conversation with Eric NganRosabel Tan and Lynda Chanwai-Earle at the AAAH2018 Symposium @ Te Papa.
